Preparation

Tomorrow my sister-in-law is getting married. We couldn't be any happier and more excited to be a part of this special day. It is going to be a rather casual wedding taking place in the cabin in the woods, but we've still been preparing for it for several weeks. Today all of our attire is packed up and we're on our way to Grand Rapids for the rehearsal dinner. Here's a little sneak peak of what we will be wearing. Can you guess what is the main color of the wedding?

Pink Blazer

{Zara blazer, Madewell blouse, J.Crew jeans and necklace, vintage handbag, Coach pumps, and T.J.Maxx cuff}

Even though it's almost October, I refuse to entirely switch to a fall wardrobe. I'm not ready to push all my summer wear to the back of the closet just yet. I want to enjoy the delicate fabrics and fresh hues a little bit longer, even if just for another week or two.

This crisp pink blazer is more reminiscent of spring then fall, but knowing we have 6 grey months ahead of us, this rosy shade is making me particularly happy this time of year.

Simple Delights

{Wild strawberry tea brought back from Lithuania}

Tea tastes even better when served in fancy tea cups.

{Insanely delicious Argentinian cookie}

It's a buttery cookie with a soft caramel layer, dipped in white chocolate. It literally melts in your mouth. We found them at our local farmer's market but you can order yours online at Lucila's Homemade.

{Sweet little book for easy weekend reading}

Although the whimsical illustrations by Sujean Rim are the main reason why I purchased it; I've been obsessed with her work ever since the beginning of Daily Candy.

{New leather cuffs to go with the fall wardrobe}

The best part is that I found these at discount stores. The cuff with brown leather and green crystal beads is from Nordstrom's Rack, while the blue one with gold hardware was a  T.J.Maxx score.

Blank Canvas

{Anthropologie dress and sunglasses, vintage handbag, Tahari flats, Madewell necklace, J.Crew belt}

The magic of solid pieces in neutral colors is that they can serve as a blank canvas for countless styling possibilities. This simple Anthopologie dress does just that. It can be easily paired with a whole array of different style and color accessories. I especially love pairing it with black for a classic combination or  with a touch of red for a more fun and flirty look.

Floral

{JCPenney dress, J.Crew pumps and belt, Michael Kors clutch}

Last weekend C and I took another trip to Michigan. First I attended my sister's-in-law wedding shower, where I got to meet her fiance's side of the family. Since we don't have this tradition back in my native Lithuania, and this was the first wedding shower I've ever participated in, it was quite an interesting experience. We spent the rest of the weekend at a rented little cabin overlooking a lake. It was too chilly to go for a swim but we enjoyed our time with family and friends.

These photos were taken right after I came back from the shower. I swear I don't lounge around the lake in a party dress and heels. Maybe only in my imaginary world.

Embroidered Shorts

{Ahthropologie shorts, Theory top, Carole Little wedges, J.Crew necklace and Margot handbag}

 One thing that I try to avoid wearing at all costs are shorts. Don't get me wrong, I think they can look fabulous on girls with the right assets. I on the other hand try not to leave a house in anything shorter than my lower thighs.

This pair of shorts sat in my closet for more than a year until I finally found the courage to wear them out in public. This is almost ground breaking! It certainly helps that these shorts have a generous length and embroidered folds, that beside looking pretty also work as camouflage for the hips.

Simple Delights

{Savoring the last bowl of cherries this season}
I sure will miss this sweet summer delight.

{Delicious afternoon treats - hazelnut banana and blueberry earl grey tarts}

It's becoming our weekend tradition to stop by for scrumptious deserts and freshly baked baguettes at a little bakery near Logan Square called La Boulangerie

{The prettiest set of push pins for my inspiration board and a dreamy post card I bought for framing}

These ceramic push pins were just too cute to pass up. They look like wedding cake flowers and come in the most clever packaging. It would make a perfect little gift for someone with an office.

I stumbled upon this lovely post card at one of the book stores back in Kaunas (my native city). The blooming meadows remind me of Lithuanian country side and the summers I spent at my grandparents' farm growing up. I love using pretty post cards or even illustrated calendar pages as art. All you need is a simple frame (it's even better if it's matted) and you might be the only one who will know it wasn't an actual print.

Striped

{J.Crew dress and belt, Belle by Sigerson Morrison flats, vintage handbag, Anthropologie sunglasses, Banana Republic necklace}

This J.Crew number is what I call a perfect summer dress. It has a well defined waist, hits right at the knee and doesn't need much accessorizing. As if that's not enough reasons to love, it's also striped! And that alone is a good enough reason to snag it.

I picked up this lovely vintage handbag back in the spring, but kept waiting for the right outfit to pair it with. Credit goes to my dear friend Justyna who spotted it at Store B Vintage. I absolutely love the ornamental closure of the piece. It makes it feel truly special.
